You may have a couple questions about hearing aids, and we have some answers!
How do I know if I need a hearing aid? An Audiologist can complete a thorough examination to determine your degree of hearing loss and if hearing aids are appropriate for you.
Will a hearing aid restore my hearing to normal? Hearing aids cannot restore the once normal function of the ear, but they are programmed to amplify sound in the range that cannot be heard, making it easier to understand speech.
Do I need two hearing aids? If you have hearing loss in both ears, two hearing aids are always better than one. Two ears allow us to hear better in background noise and help locate which direction a sound is coming from.
How long does it take to get used to a hearing aid? Everyone is different. Hearing aids help you hear sounds you haven’t heard for a while (likely years!) Re-learning and adapting to the sound take some time, usually a few weeks.
Which style or brand of hearing aid should a choose? This depends on a few factors: the degree of hearing loss, lifestyle, individual preferences, as well as the manufacturer’s customer service and product quality. An audiologist can help you determine which hearing aid is right for you.
