Perhaps you’ve heard the expression “if a little is good, a lot is better, and too much will be just right!”  But in the case of noise exposure, too much is really harmful!

Exposure to noise – not age – is the leading cause of hearing loss.  And continued exposure to loud noise can worsen pre-existing hearing problems.  Continuous exposure to 85 decibels (dB) can have a detrimental effect on your hearing.  Exposure to loud music, either live or through earphones, can be particularly dangerous with sound intensity sometimes reaching 100-115 dB.

New hearing protection technology is available that is much more comfortable and protects your hearing, while still allowing much more natural sound at a reduced intensity level.  We now offer ACS Pro earplugs, which are custom molded to your ear, fit securely, and are comfortable to wear for hours at a time.  These technically-advanced devices are made of medical-grade silicone with interchangeable filters that allow you to select the level of protection you need (10, 12, 15 or 20 decibels of reduction).  They are also vented in both directions, which means the sound of your voice won’t boom inside your ears like it does with most earplugs!

If you are subject to noisy environments, please call our office and ask for a hearing protection consultation – it’s free!

P.S. ATTENTION MUSICIANS!  We also carry ACS’s top-of-the-line, custom-molded in-the-ear musicians’ monitors.  Protect your hearing while you perform your best with the same precision audio monitors that the pros use. Give us a call to schedule an appointment.
